What did you say? And what did you mean by it?

Who even speaks English any more

Post by Blaggard »

Certainly it is not the English.

They are wise not to.

Or perhaps not: discuss. It's my homework question, I need help?

I've done some working out over 42 years, but tbh I still don't speak gibberish... yet/

It depends on what you call English, certainly not Shakespeare's English, but modern English is fluid and ever changing, you can't fix it and define it to one set of rules. It used to grate my nerves when my son said 'funner' rather than 'more fun' but I just let it go and didn't try to correct him. You do speak English, a language that is changing and evolving all the time, anyone who say's otherwise has their head in the sand and can't see reality.

Very true Doc. But at the same time very false...

What is language if it is not the desire to be understood by someone at least?

People (Americans) don't understand the difference between the evolution of language, and the bastardisation of language.

True enough, I understood what he meant, I just didn't like the way he said it. It seemed to me that there was a better way, (better as in, more clear).

I don't know what you mean. Cowards speak in riddles.

I agree that little diatribe was both immature and uncalled for.
