Philosophical Microsoft Software Engineers. A RAnT!!!

Post by Arising_uk »

aaarrrgggghhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've just lost another bunch of conversation because of an unhandled Win exception error in IE7.0.5730.11. Its always on these bleeding Free Dictionary websites but thats not what PISSES ME OFF!! Its that how come you bastards haven't coded a 'gentle' exception handler for each bleeding TAB!! You lazy gits!! C'mon what can a web-scripter do that you should not be able to handle?

p.s.
I understand that you have to code 'kludges' but the point of IE7 was the bloody tabs! If its going to crash I might as well go back to single view?
p.p.s.
In fact. F**k it! Linux 4 evr!

Hi

My sympathies!

Why don't you just change to Firefox for Windows?
http://en-us.www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/
Tabs work just fine in Firefox 3.

Good luck with browsing! A.

hi Aetixintro,
Thank you.

Good point. Are you saying it does not crash if you visit these dictionary websites? Or that it crashes 'gracefully'? As I'm ashamed to admit that I use the Windows product because I believed that they would restrict performance tweaks to competitors. But now I think about it thats stupid as its human response time over reliability and I have a few seconds patience. Ta! I'll try it to see if it solves my grief and extend the learning time for Linux but I'm still going Linux as its about time I became a truly 'equal' digital citizen.

I love the way you put this in the philosophy of science section. Have you ever heard of Karl Pilkington?

He's saying he thinks you're an idiot who is comically unaware of his own idiocy.

I'm saying nothing of the sort. I'm just suggesting that the post has certain Pilkingtonesque qualities.

Good, as I can take a joke too and do think it had those 'fine' qualities.

Karl Pilkington is a comedian whose character appeal centres on his being an unaware idiot contented with his idiocy, to alter your comment to saying that he demonstrates 'pilkingtonesque' qualities, is like saying:

'I wasn't calling him an idiot, I was saying he was idiotesque!'

I flatter myself that I am not an idiot, yet I sometimes do and say idiotic things. You have also said idiotic things on this forum in the past but I don't consider you an idiot.

Glad to know that your opinion of me has improved (unless you were referring to a_uk?).

Not been on the forum for a bit. Just wanted to say that your comments on JJ's 'article' were spot on. Psychonaut's an idiot. Ignore.

When you engage in slanging matches with other forum members I think you're an idiot. When you post intelligent responses (as in the Darwin thread) I change my mind.
