How can a leftist be a good worker in a company?
A leftist is a person who reject Capitalism and is supportive of Socialism, Anarchism, Communitarianism or Marxism. Yet a leftist is also a human being, that means she needs to work in a job and be a good employee. But how can a person be a leftist and a good worker in a company at the same time?
Is it because people cannot be a good employee and a leftist at the same time therefore nowadays there are less and less leftists among the whole human population?

Which leftist are you talking about? That's four different political ideologies, rarely found together.Above us only sky wrote:A leftist is a person who reject Capitalism and is supportive of Socialism, Anarchism, Communitarianism or Marxism.
Or inherit a lot of money...Yet a leftist is also a human being, that means she needs to work in a job and be a good employee.
So, why do you think that the only jobs are capital-driven? What about social work, teaching, epidemiology, environmental science, animal rescue, highway patrol, child advocacy, fire-fighting, public broadcasting, coast-guard, civil service, etc.? The whole capitalist entrepreneurial system would collapse without social and government services.
By not trying so hard to stab her boss in the back and take his job, maybe? It would also depend on the company. She might have an easier time working for a boss with a social conscience who pays a fair wage than one who hires illegals and dumps toxic waste in schoolyards. But how can a person be a leftist and a good worker in a company at the same time?
... that you know about....Is it because people cannot be a good employee and a leftist at the same time therefore nowadays there are less and less leftists among the whole human population?
I guess that means you won't see them coming till you're up against the wall.

Is that 'definition' the best you could come up with? According to the 'right', a 'leftist' is anyone who thinks rationally (or thinks).

a foul, uncooperative, american weighs in...
Auos,
Seems to me the world is overflowing with Leftists.
A great many Left-leaners have to make accommodations with that debbil Capitalism but not as many as you may think. Government regulation of business (from safety regs to employment regs to social/cultural regs) have 'left-ivized' a nice chunk of the (free/unrestricted) market (making it, the market, planned and restrained), rendering a huge swath of Capitalism, 'Capitalism' in name only.
And, of course, for the Lefties who can't (even) cut it in an adulterated Capitalistic sphere there is the refuge of government service. From the municipal on up, there are all manner of jobs for communitarians to glom on to.

What I find hilarious is that those who deride 'leftists' (without ever defining what they mean by it) are extremely reluctant to call themselves 'right wing'. They use the euphemism 'conservative' instead. I wonder why they don't want to call themselves 'right wing'?

It must confuse Americans terribly when there are people around who don't fit into your little boxes.henry quirk wrote:Veg,
No, the Right defines (in part) the Left by its collective inability to think, and its rabid collective devotion to 'feeling'.

Re:
No. You are rational or irrational. Boxes and labels are stupid. You idiots can't even define 'left'. You just throw the word around to refer to anyone you don't agree with on a particular topic. If you are referring to those who like to refer to themselves as 'progressives' then say that. That has nothing to do with they mythical 'left' you keep referring to.henry quirk wrote:There's no confusion: you're 'right' or you're 'wrong'.

Re:
So Germany under the nazis is your idea of Utopia. Oh, how very rational. (And they called themselves 'national SOCIALISTS'), so illiteracy and confusion were alive and well in Germany too. 'Left' and 'Right' are so mis-used, outdated and now meaningless that both need to be confined to the dustbin of history.henry quirk wrote:Oh, for the record: I'm 'right'(wing).

Nazis havin' their asses handed to them by six million jews is what I would have expected.
That, instead, that six million allowed themselves to be rounded up and exterminated sez an awful lot about jewish psychology at the time (which is strange since it was the Hebrews who said 'if you know someone is coming to kill you, get up early snd go kill them first').
As for defining the Right (or the Left) I'm thinking you and me got differing notions on all that.

They hardly 'allowed themselves'. No sane person would have expected that. Btw, does no one care about the gypsies and homosexuals?henry quirk wrote:Nazis havin' their asses handed to them by six million jews is what I would have expected.

I wouldn't know, because you haven't defined either.henry quirk wrote: As for defining the Right (or the Left) I'm thinking you and me got differing notions on all that.
