Two things... one, my attempt to greatness, is something that everyone
should stive for, in whatever field they choose.... should I be like you and
choose to be a mediocre philosopher with no attempt to get better?
No, my own personal hero is Icarus.... even if I crash and burn, at least
I tried... and I would rather fail trying to reach the sun than succeed by
being mediocre...
Two: unlike yourself, I don't rate philosophers or philosophy by how many
readers it has.... numbers don't create greatness...
and I don't care who likes it or who doesn't.... I am not
seeking out the greatest number of readers... it doesn't matter
to me if no one reads me, one reads me, or millions read me....
I seek out greatness, not numbers....

I CHALLENGE YOU KROPOTKIN: Premise:- I am a greater philosopher than you, that is I love and seek WISDOM in a more intelligent way than you do.
Go ahead, challenge me.
K: I have little, check that, no interest in any sort of challenge.....
and anyone, if they wish to, can simply read our posts and threads,
and make their own conclusions as to the viability of our philosophy....
what is of more interest to me is this notion that ''love''
of philosophy is the basis of philosophy.... I have been in love
and love is one fickle bitch....nah, for me anyway,
the basis and starting point of all philosophy is doubt....
the one great modern philosophical movement is the
Enlightenment... (a movement still unfinished) and the primary
engagement of the Enlightenment is to doubt the status quo,
to doubt religion, to doubt both the current economic
and political structure of the time... even going so far as
to doubt what it means to be human....
throw everything into doubt and see where it all lands.....
or as Nietzsche called it, a " revaluation of values"...
what values do you have why those values and not other values...
and what values do we have that were indoctrinated into us, as children,
by the state, the church, the media, society, family and education......
and to doubt all that you were taught, indoctrinated with,
and evaluate if those indoctrinated values are really your values?
Doubt..... that is the rock upon which I build my own philosophy by......
and that is why, as Socrates said all those years ago, doubt is the
bedrock of the wise man.... not certainty, but doubt....
what did Socrates say, One: to know thyself.... Two: the unexamined
life isn't worth living...
and what is Socrates examining, as we should be examining, our values
and beliefs.... for certainty cannot bring us any type of wisdom....
for from certainty comes pride and self-importance, complacency, arrogance,
vanity, smugness, pomposity to name a few things that the ''certain ones'' bring
to the table..... the problem with Theism is that it is just another version
of certainty....and the arrogance that comes with certainty isn't my cup
of tea..... for I hold with Atheism and its doubts, because in doubt,
I may, may find out the truth, whereas in certainty, there can not
be either of the Socratic motto's, to know thyself and to lead
the examination of values that makes life worth living.....
