"Peace" is a noble goal...but if it's really noble, does it not deserve some possible strategy for achievement? Or are we going to be content with wishing upon a star, and never bother to consider how the thing might actually be reached?
If that's where we stop, just how much do we actually care about peace?

You'd make a great Islamist, then... They think that peace could be achieved by killing all opponents.Flannel Jesus wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2024 4:42 pmI have one but I doubt people would like it:
The complete destruction of all life on earth.
But that's more "pacification" than peace...it's a quietness born of death and destruction, rather than of tranquility and harmony. It's probably not what we're really looking for...

Gotta throw the ol' monkeys paw in occasionally, so people remember to be careful what they wish for.Immanuel Can wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2024 5:08 pmYou'd make a great Islamist, then... I posted what I think will bring peace. You replied to it but left out that half.Immanuel Can wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2024 3:43 pmI'm interested in Gary's. He's the one who started this ball rolling. which means not sending armies beyond sovereign borders, and not stationing troops beyond sovereign borders (except in UN delegated peace keeping functions). And unfortunately, the US has been the #1 violator of that requirement. So it would require some degree of regime change in the US in our case.

You didn't say how any of that was going to happen. You just said you wanted...Gary Childress wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2024 8:29 pmI posted what I think will bring peace. So you think the UN is going to remain, and will somehow become effective and moral, but that Biden has to go?...some degree of regime change in the US in our case.
So many questions...how is all this going to be made possible?

Hmm, I just can't imagine where all this is going.Immanuel Can wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2024 8:33 pm

Oh, I see...you're itching for me to bring the "G" word into the conversation, and then you get to say, "You see? He's obsessed!"
The problem is that nothing was going that direction until you just pushed it there. Ironic, that. Almost obsessive...

Actually, it's the "T" word that I was expecting.Immanuel Can wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2024 11:34 pmOh, I see...you're itching for me to bring the "G" word into the conversation, and then you get to say, "You see? He's obsessed!"

Here is another example of where the word 'killing' is being completely and utterly misinterpreted.Immanuel Can wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2024 5:08 pmYou'd make a great Islamist, then...
