You all know the story so there is no need to tell you. There are two main problems with this story though: (1) How he could build a ship so big that he could accommodate a pair from each species and (2) How different species whose life depends on killing and eating others could survive if there is a pair of each species they could hunt.

Anyone with an ounce of common sense knows it is just a myth.

Yes, but some people believe it so let's challenge them!

Very correct. Noah has to travel a big distance on Earth to collect the animals in a remote area!

As of 2022, around 2.16 million living animal species have been described—of which around 1.05 million are insects, over 85,000 are molluscs, and around 65,000 are vertebrates. It has been estimated there are as many as 7.77 million animal species on Earth.
And what about all the plants? Most land plants can't survive prolonged periods under water. The deck of that ark must have looked like the world's biggest garden centre.

Why are you asking? The story is 100% invention.
It's the earliest written example of disaster science fiction. It demonstrates the need for fiction to have internal coherence.
All the best fiction is "true". This story is just silly.

Really?
Do you think there is a single person on the Forum that beleives in the myth as a literal truth?

Sure, some people believe it, like IC.

Why not PM him?

Yes, he thinks so. I am currently discussing the creation with him in the thread called "Is morality subjective or objective?".

Well, myths are not always 100% fiction. It's just that people tend to "slightly" exaggerate the highlights of a story to emphasize their importance. And over time, the story can become so overgrown with all kinds of details that even its author will no longer recognize it.
As a kid at summer camp, I happened to lie a friend that I catch a small catfish, but I released it back, so I can't show it. I thought this lie was so trivial that it could be considered a joke. However, the next day, in front of the whole camp, I was unexpectedly rewarded for an unheard of feat ... This is how myths and legends are born.
