I need to note I'm opposed to this and don't understand it.
19th to esrly 20th century stories of two men having a duel over a woman as the woman passively awaits the results. I'd be deeply opposed to dating a woman who thought this was a good idea, and if she was really that struck on who to pick that she would accept us blasting one another away.... she can have him. Not interested. But this happened a few times.
The phenomena seems to survive in the form of ring girls. I always thought it was pornographic, but notice they have no shame in the community and women attend the matches too, so may be more than just guys looking at them. Women in society may be playing out a fantasy here I've just never noticed before.
So how real is this two men fighting over a potential mate. Is it a female fantasy or something forced upon Women, or something that never really was a thing?
Duels over Women, Ring Girl Phenomenon
Re: Duels over Women, Ring Girl Phenomenon
I believe it still happens.
I believe women measure men by their "confidence", bravado, successes, etc. but it's subconscious and they don't admit to it publicly.
They still like winners, not losers.

I don't think it's that real in the formal duel, winner gets format, but otherwise it's present in less organized and explicit forms all over the place. And pretty much everyone, men and women alike, like to be fought over. Mistress/wife fights go back millenia. And anything that looks like it might become a mistress/wife situation will set women off, just as the interloper man towards a couple will elicit this dynamic. Competition abounds. Suspicions of competition abound. I mean, there are men who won't let woman leave the apartment and somewhere deep down is the fear of the 'other man.' And there are men and women who use these dynamics for all sorts of motives, some pretty ugly, some more playful.Constantine wrote: ↑Thu Jul 06, 2023 3:42 pm So how real is this two men fighting over a potential mate.
