Fiji Refugees /space economy socialism

How would Fiji.... a country fairly socialized today, survive in a post industrial world where space fairing nations can mine and manufacture goods in space?

Japan has few natural resources, but it has a space industry. New Zealand in place of a space industry, has sheep.

So if Japan switched over to a universal income, it could back it with space mining and industry. It's currency wouldn't collapse into nothing. If New Zealand tried.... it would have to convince space faring nations to trade flying cars for lamb chops and stinky fish.

New Zealand has very little to offer the world. Australia can mine a continent. China can mine the Himalayas. New Zealand cam do Maori Dances at the airport to attract tourist money.

So can New Zealand keep socializing with the rest of the world or has it tapped out? Will Africa overtake it?

It can always live off its wokeness and offer hugs to the rest of the world.
Btw, it's no more 'socialist' than any other small, modern democracy. Sometimes it has govts. in power that actually distribute tax revenue back to the population fairly and other times it has govts. that do the opposite.
You are obviously a troll anyway, with no real interest in the arsehole of the world (why would anyone?).
Btw, I believe NZ does have some involvement in the 'space business'. Where did you get the idea it was switching to a 'universal income'?

Everyone eventually will switch. I think Japan has less resources but more space involvement.

Did you think this thread was about your persistent pet peeve, wokism?

It's about a Sci-Fi concern I've had for years.... if you had a million year old O'Neill Cylinder full of humans, if it wanted to be capitalistic and have currency it should be allowed to, but you can't build them with the expectation they would have to function that way. You'll want it as self sufficient as possible as it floats around the void of space, mining the occasional asteroid or colonizing the random planet is the odd time it is exposed to the outside universe.

On Earth, most of us must have currency. The USSR failed at trying to get rid of the concept early on. But AI and automation makes men unemployed. Say 90% of people are unemployment in 100 years. Mandating the 10% provide for everyone will cause massive issues if the total supply lines for said industry isn't completely within a nation or economic bloc. I assume the poorest country, and likely most households will have the ability to print on demand advanced CPUs. But raw materials can't be traded between hostile or jealous nations easily. One option is control of airspace and automated space factories by space powers controlling deorbiting and landing. They can monopolize intrastate and intraspace trade. Corporations might agree to a new currency measure this way.

New Zealand has more resources than Japan but is far less successful. Japan is strongly pro engineering and pro space. It has a trade mentality. I see it advancing beyond the nation state socialist bubble New Zealand has advanced to. NZ can further exploit some tech.... medical (automated hospitals and such) but I don't think is positioned well to achieve a universal income that's stable. Africa can overtake NZ easily over the next century due to greater economic integration and more resources.

Had I known a NZ person was on this forum I would of said Fuji or something. Never heard of a NZ philosopher before. Samuel Butler maybe. Erewhon = Nowhere.

But I don't think you can magically abandon currency. A universal income without further structural adjustments is exactly that.... inflationary, out of control chaos. It will ruin most industries and the urban population will starve. You gotta precisely calibrate how such companies that are still required will logically process a new mercantile approach to trade with such a massive tax burden.

This is just weird...
