Religion: a pursuit or interest followed with great devotion.

Religion is self-idolatry.
Idolatry is the worship of an image or "idol" as though it were You.
The 'looker' and the 'looked upon' are the same You.
The observer is the cause of division.
You the observer are both your own cause and it's effect.
You are nothingness following it's own mirage through identification with it's mirror image.
The sad thing about attachment to mirror images is that there is pure nothingness reflecting in the mirror to form an attachment to, to become identified with.
It's just absolutely awe-full.
Just absolutely awful and cruel, and traumatic, this empty pursuit of following with great devotion the knowledge that you are in fact just knowing yourself as absolute nothingness.
And when this is realised fully and with total acceptance and surrender, is when you know you are dead forever, and that you have never been born.
And is why belief is all you had, and while you had belief, there was at least some hope that you were real.
HOPE...is overrated.
