Try to keep rubbish PCness out of the equation. Promiscuity existed long befor AIDS came into the equation. HIV is no longer a fashionable cause (the PC are only interested in fashionable causes). Perhaps a better philosophical question would be about what makes some causes 'fashionable' and others not.
