Duck (verb) to dip ones head lower (because there is a low flying bird coming straight for you)
Duck (noun) a low flying bird

and factual—very nice postings.
I understand that the first usage of the verb predates that of the nouns, but still I wonder what noun would have been used to identify such a bird before it was called a duck.
Why would words for actions, which take place in relation to one or more persons, places or things, come to be before there would have been words to name these referents?
Which makes more sense: that the first human word would have been “look”, usually accompanied by an index finger pointed at an object of interest, and often misunderstood depending on the accuracy of the finger; or that the first word would have been “tiger”, also accompanied by an indicator?

Cheers, and yep I think things like, interesting that the index finger would be the appendage we would use when traversing down an index at the back of a book.

Noun is known Verbally when Verb is known to be Nouning.

The phenomenon is happenings identifiable by how they affect surroundings including the observer.
Moreover these happenings seem to happen in bundles of aspects such as appearance, sound, dangerousness, etc. Because there are bundles of happenings many people think these bundles are essential. But in reality there are no essences, only happenings that affect the observer.

Vermin is a horrible word, and in the case a humans, very much a case of 'pot calling kettle black'.
