The opening scene of one of my favourite films (and the best British gangster film in my op) - Sexy Beast.

Ray Winstone.

(try and ignore the ridiculousness of requiring English subtitles here for an Englishman, speaking English - at least the dude posted the vid)

Haven’t seen the movie. He’s like Mr. Magoo, but not as cheerful.

Yes, guns are a cheap dramatic device and not required for good films. What someone should do and likely has done, is defy Chekhov’s statement of inevitable expectation, namely, if you show the gun, the gun must be used.

In other words, show the gun but don’t use it. It would have to be done skillfully because after all, it would defy what has become deep conditioning, especially amongst the troubled yutes of urban gangs that pledge allegiance to cartel franchises.

Inherit the Wind (1960) - Fanaticism and Ignorance Scene (5/12) | Movieclips

This courtroom scene about the teaching of Darwinism in government schools is brilliant for what it says to the future.

It says to the future … that if only Darwinism is allowed to be taught in schools, then civilization will march backwards because people will accept that group inference without question, under threat of penalty.

And, it says it in less than three minutes.

"and the best British gangster film in my op"

I would argue that Hardy does it here as far as British gangster films, with Snatch at a close second to this movie, if not tied.

Damn it, that vid "not available" (I prolly should get VPN or use Tor!!)
I haven't heard of 'Legend" - Tom Hardy was fantastic in Taboo. I've seen Snatch, might have to watch it again.

Have you watched Sexy Beast?

Ok, master promethean...the Krays.

I have watched docos on them, they were very nasty individuals, however, I note that this film has them where they have risen to already to some afluent financial position - hence perhaps they did polish their act up by that point.

3/4 thru the film "Legend"

After many a stop.

..and now to real eyes what is typically portrayed to us...that suicide is so simple...FFS

That as an individual, we don't care about our family, even our dog..

..that we don't consider that there actually is NO ESCAPE (from the universe), since once one dies, likely has to exist again, and make all of ones lifes mistakes AGAIN.

That was a shit "Brit gangster film" --- the Krays were Kunts - portrayed here as rainbows shining out of their arses!

..and at te end, suicide was portrayed as an OUT. WELL IT AINT!!! THERE IS NO ESCAPE!!!

In all honesty I haven't seen any British gangster movies other than Legend and Snatch. Or if I have I can't recall.

Legend is all about Hardy's acting skills, especially playing Ronnie the schizo brother. That scene in the bar when the Spanish guitar chord is struck as Ronnie turns at the door, looking up and around in his reverie as an old western gunfighter. Lol!

Fair play.

Part way thru I was on a ph conversation with my mate that..like me, was questioning whether Hardy played both Ronnie and Reggie.

We can look it up of course, but ....

..ah yeah, watch Sexy Beast other.wise U aint in the pool.

OK, now its morning and I regret accepting a friends delivery of Guinness and Shiraz, I just looked up re Tom Hardy...well, what a bloody great actor!!
Tom Hardy as Ronald "Ronnie" Kray and Reginald "Reggie" Kray[9]
Identical twins who terrorised London during the 1950s and 1960s.

I shall now go back an edit my nasty language. I actually did enjoy it, I don't think I got past the suicide scene though towards the end, that stuff gets to me. Will watch it to the end today.

Let me know what you think of Sexy Beast - Ben Kingsley as Don Logan - wow!!

Damn you promethean - I am not sure how "Legend" went under my radar for so long!

I just watched the fight scene again, cos it came up in my utube feed..and now I am gonna drink beer and watch the entire film again (well, it is Friday)

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=zZ7AWVKbPWY

HAVE YOU DOWNLOADED AND WATCHED SEXY BEAST!!?

..also, I am on the scene where Reggie has his first date with Francis in his club. What the hell happened to the world where places like this barely exist anymore, somewhere that you can sit at a table, without shit loud music blaring, and actually have a chat with a lady while listening to perhaps a 3 piece sing songs of LOVE?

I have not watched it, I confess. I'm not in a TV movie phase right now but if I get back into it, imma holla. I can only tolerate movies in a theater at the moment.

Pacino’s too old to star in Hunter, The Movie.

Vanilla Sky. I recently re-watched this on a flight. It’s about how mind creates reality, amongst other subplots. Shirley, every successful person has considered the implications of how the mind creates reality, that is, if they’ve managed to pause enough to lie in a hammock or a personal facsimile that’s good enough, and soak it all up. In fact, they will likely be the only ones who understand the movie.

Tom C., the star. Ain’t he one of them Scientists? Scientismists? What do they call what he is? What’s that word? Let’s get this straightened out, so we can get him properly slotted in the organizational chart of the universe. Speaking of that, the most important question is the last.

Cameron, or Penelope?
