What is Nonduality?

Post by Dontaskme » Thu Dec 08, 2016 10:04 am

Watch the dog dig a hole and then promptly lie in the hole.

That's what Nonduality is.

Nonduality is just this natural random spontaneous life happening without inferred filter of the mind which is prone to deliver an interpretation about whether it should or should not have happened, or whether it is right or wrong, good or bad.

Then, watch two dogs digging holes and lying in them.

That's what Duality is.

The watcher of two dogs digging holes and lying in them is Nonduality.

What is being watched is what's really happening. Then sometimes, another thing happens that is superimposed upon the immediate happening...which is the story of what's happening ..that's Duality.

Duality is a fictional interpretation of what's happening appearing after the event has already passed away (happened)

Without the story about what's happening, nothing happens... THIS is all Nonduality at play...it's happening and not happening at the same time....

Really? It just sounds like a euphemistic description of "dogging" to me.

It seems the declaration that "What is being watched is what's really happening." is already a story being superimposed upon the situation.

Yes, it's like looking in a mirror. The mirror is vacuous of any reflection until it is looked at, both the looker and the looked upon are the same one..aka Nonduality...appearing Dual.

''Do you hear the barking of the dog out there? You translate it and say that is the barking of a dog. But if you are just aware of that, it echoes here inside of you. There is no separation from you. There is no translation. You are barking, and not the dog out there.''

The object is the mirror reflection of the seer.

A student went to his meditation teacher and said, "My meditation is horrible! I feel so distracted, or my legs ache, or I'm constantly falling asleep. It's just horrible!"

"It will pass," the teacher said.

A week later, the student came back to his teacher. "My meditation is wonderful! I feel so aware, so peaceful, so alive! It's just wonderful!'

"It will pass," the teacher replied.

PS..Sleep, the only place where dreams are made. No one ever woke up from this dream...go figure!

We don't "go figure" in Great Britain, thankfully, that stupid expression hasn't caught on here yet. If I ever do resort to going and figuring, I'll go and figure something of my own choosing, rather than yours. So put that in your pipe and smoke it.
