Can the 'power' of rape go both ways?

Post by FrankGSterleJr »

It would be progressive to commemorate (albeit belatedly) International Women’s Day with informative, accurate study/research findings to measure (by rate per capita of course) the progress, if any, resulting from the many often-massive movements and protests against anti-female violence on local, national and international scales.
I cannot imagine such study/research findings being truly accurate, as one might imagine an indication of an increase in the rate of such biased violence against females, when in fact there may actually have been a decrease, perhaps all as a result of more assaulted females being motivated into going on record and laying criminal charges.
At the same time, it would also be progressive to actually have truly accurate statistics of males assaulted by their female partners, for males have always tended to be anywhere from reluctant to outright embarrassed by opening up, even to police, as being physical-assault ‘victims’ of their wives/girlfriends, etcetera.
Indeed, there will always be the fact that rape is, for the very most part, a uniquely male-against-female violent offence. However, as even the most ardent feminist would likely acknowledge: Rape is not about sex, but rather it’s about male power over females. But cannot that fact also extend to prisons where mostly heterosexual male inmates routinely rape weaker, usually younger, ‘unprotected’ and therefore quite vulnerable male inmates.
Furthermore, cannot male/female violence against males also be said to be at the very least in part for one to attain a sense ofpower over another—as is the case with much such biased violence witnessed in, for example, countless contemporary (usually "action") movies.
