Can't remember the film. Actor could be someone like Clint or Costner...
Any ideas?
Really, really, really annoying - have been quickly googling shave scenes in movies.
Found myself in TheShaveDen 8)
There are 1,000's...Thousands !!
Pages upon pages. A bit like a Phil of Rill thread...
Who knew the razor was such a symbol; shaving so iconic...

Could have been Kyra Sedgwick grooming John Travolta in Phenomenon. But it doesn't feel right - and it's a safety razor...and a lot of shave foam...hmmm...

I knew it XD.
For what I've read in books, it is a popular request when people go with expensive prostitutes (cut hair in general). It's related with danger and power because of the obvious, and it is related with the hair, the beard, male symbols. It hapens even in the bible.

I think there was a great point to the remakes I listed above, mostly due to massive improvements in effects technology.
'Lord of the Rings' is a remake?
I have to disagree about Planet of the Apes. I thought the remake was rubbish.
The first LOTRs was bloody dreadful. So much so that it did not get to the sequels.

I'm not talking about The 2001 Mark Wahlberg version (though I loved Tim Roth in that) but the last two efforts, which are true remakes.

None of the films thus far have respected the book, so any remake can be viewed with its own merits such as they are.
That LOTR was animated, so Peter Jackson's could hardly be called a 'remake'. The only similarity is that they are both based on the same book.
I'm not a huge fan of CGI anyway. Irionically it ends up looking less real than its earlier counterpart. Those sets on the old epics like Ben Hur still look amazingly realistic. Speaking of Ben Hur, I just noticed the stupid fucks 'remade' that too.

Normally you do not indulge in utterly specious arguments. I'm disappointed.

I loved Ben Hur for many reasons, but its religious bullshit, and of no use to any adult. I'm looking forward to what they might do with the Sea battle and the chariot race.

As for not being a fan of CGI, you are watching a lot more than you know. It's everywhere these days seamlessly.

Come now, you would have said the same thing.
Strange, but I love those old biblical epics. They somehow managed to not be ickily religious unlike the modern attempts at them (eg the CGI-soaked 'Noah') although kristians complained that it wasn't 'historically correct' .

This has to be here, even when it is from a videogame.

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER

Mass Effect scene

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iE4XKjkEloY

Only in a game you can choose if it happens, only in a game a story of many hours can be the one that can lead you here, only in a game you can (or can't) make the main character be mate of that girl, but no matter if you choose that, she is part of your crew fromm the begining and there are many scenes of "common life" in the ship and missions where you can make choices too (in fact, she can have died before that) and that can make you see it more like a complex character than any in a film. Etc.

I think we all grew up with "Moses", and other epics from the ancient world, and they felt so grand and so good that modern versions seem pallid in comparison.
I think I reached a point where i just could not bear the religious indoctrination, the insidious propaganda.

I thought I would hate Noah, but liked it in spite of myself. I was just so ridiculous that I found myself enjoying it as I would LOTRs. (well - not quite), maybe The Hobbit, no wait .. errr. Let's face it has much as I disliked the Hobbit it was still better than Noah.

I watching the 1972 Poseidon Adventure right now, remembering Bette Middler's cruel impersonation of Shelley Winters swimming. I seem to remember a remake of that, which I do not think was any better or worse.

I wouldn't exactly say I grew up with religious epics. I do prefer old films though. The art of screenplay writing seems to be all but lost, with incomprehensible plots and actors who think that muttering and mumbling equals 'realism' (and there's nothing wrong with my hearing). I've been watching the Vikings series and it's all but impossible because they mumble so irritatingly. The main guy is the worst, and Australians are normally easy to understand.

I don't know why Shelley Winters was so made fun of for Poseidon Adventure. I thought she did really well. Oh, so women of a certain age often put weight on. So shoot them.
Have you seen this hilarious interview with Oliver Reed?
