To correlate with the joke you don't find funny, did Johnson's beggar have a poor presentation?

Why water it down. A beggar is a beggar, no matter how sad the conditions that brings someone to that state in life.

When you dilute anything, a thought or a problem, it has a tendency to increase in volume.

When you exaggerate it, the ignorance of the situation becomes apparent.

With awareness comes change ... but awareness also brings numbness to the sleepy, even catatonia when change is too much.

Comedy is a good barometer of many things, eh?
