Poor people like to go and see Taj Mahal.
Does anyone suggest that it should be disintegrated, sold and the money given to the poor ?

Re: Rebuilding Notre Dame vs. Helping the Poor
I couldnt answer to that poll with a yes or no. Its both a naive and an interesting question.
First of all, if a rich guy want to spend a couple on millions on the Notre Dame, better for me than if he buys a couple of Rolls Royces. And some of the rich and famous, with Bill Gates in the vanguard makes extremely good and intelligent charity work.
But the question is really much more complex.
Is it OK that guys, probably only magninally more intelligent than the above-average MD or Civil Engineer hoard the kind of money to be able to give a billion to a church? Let alone his Bimbo Wife and his spoiled brat kids. From like a million different perspectives...
But the alternative, Sowiet Russia does not seem all that attractive too, even in theory. And I certainly does not have proven up to anything effective.
I thing that both a yes and a no to helping the poor instead of the notre dame is in place. A mix of socialism and the Invisible Hand is what about every successful country seems to come up with.
So yeah, the guys with the Ferraris could well spend some dollars on the curch but their tax money should be dished out to the poor as well as the church as on the other million things that craves money.
