All Watched Over by Machines of Loving Grace

Post by Pluto »

Richard Brautigan - All Watched Over by Machines of Loving Grace

I like to think (and
the sooner the better!)
of a cybernetic meadow
where mammels and computers
live together in mutually
programming harmony
like pure water
touching clear sky.

I like to think
(right now, please!)
of a cybernetic forest
filled with pines and electronics
where deer stroll peacefully
past computers
as if they were flowers
with spinning blossoms.

I like to think
(it has to be!)
of a cybernetic ecology
where we are free of our labors
and joined back to nature,
returned to our mammal
brothers and sisters,
and all watched over
by machines of loving grace.

interaction

Post by Pluto »

In a control system, such as a steersman, the controller interacts with the device being controlled, but the boat (the device) interacts with the steersman too.

the image of man is a battleground

Post by Pluto »

Pre-2000
The people on the march
Saw injustice in a system
Then like an explosion that puts out fire
The war on terror
It is not what they say it is but a way to control those marching for a new system
Now I am a terrorist

A disaster will be used to achieve government aims
A disaster will be created to achieve government aims
Madrid
London
North America
Etc
Black Flag and Haarp play out before your eyes.

Then in such times as these
The planet itself is ill
Have they gone mad
What do they see

They said the planet is dying look at the weather
I saw the man playing with weather like it was a gun
Those that know what the vision is happily watch
Removal of two thirds the populace is advised

So first job is to devalue man's worth
How
Take his art and his music away
Feed him toxins and pollutants
The image of man is a battleground
That has yet to see the light of day

for free

dont do crime and get punishment.
dont make a suicide.
dont murder yourself.
dont do like millions every year.
dont brake your body and soul;
heart, mind, legs, arms and back.
dont go against gods will, emperors will,
honors will, others will, your will.
dont do altruistic suicide, self-sacrifice
or become martyr.
dont stop sacrificing your life.
dont throw away gift and debt.
dont hurt anybody.
dont know better than others.
dont believe in wrong things.
dont follow wrong prophets.
dont give up never ending fight.
dont kill a thing or soul.
dont let yourself easy.
dont be mad.
repeat these sentences and be free.
one, two, three.

Put the mother on the end of a pole
Outrage after outrage but it doesn't
Because You know Who is doing it
Fall in line to the higher sounding organ
You dumb no, it's normal, the closer you are
The better you behave. Prison, who said prison
No one, you said prison while writing this thing
Right

Tangled up in twisted threads of iron
Sunshine island mixed bag, yeah it's
An outrage that someone should throw
Out all those that don't carry UK passports
Tasered bride in suicide bid read the paper
Slowly change the situation without them
Pull whole carpet from feet when they wake up
They have already become the new people So
It's okay. Moving along like those big hindenburgen
Sky. Metal man show me what you have behind your back
Nationalism for the retarded on track in the hindenbergen sheet
I was young playing star wars in my bedroom I can picture myself now

stuck on a train
raining hard on tracks
water running down window
phonecall hasselt - serious
accident - pukkel pop 3 dead
the old people see the injustice
as they remember what was before
but more importantly than them are
the new - 'improved' with ideas that fit
snug with the time - fit like a glove with
the time. this is how the frog is gently boiled
by introducing new people from new soil that
see no wrong in the right. then when one of these
ranks sees more s/he is put high on pedestal so others
can watch and be envious or if not celebrated is killed.
the system capitalism is fed and watered by instillation of envy in heart

Has anyone who post poetry here actually studied it? As its essentially voice and as such punctuation places a large part in it. Its not just putting words that aren't prose upon a page.

Its a fair point and I accept that the form and structure can give a clue to where the breath is but in his longer ones he appears to know what commas, fullstops and semi-colons are for.
