Looks like about 40 posts over at ILP during the shutdown. I'd say you kept pace.Peter Kropotkin wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2024 6:32 am Harbal:
What good news. I thought the forum was lost and gone forever. I just hope it was back before Kropotkin was driven to suicide.

Re: The Philosophy Now Forum is back!
Hi folks. Quick update. We brought the Forum back by subscribing to a web security company for their enhanced service, in order to block the bots. Unfortunately this has had an unexpected side effect: the web security package is now blocking access to the Philosophy Now main website for some libraries with particular kinds of IP access subscriptions. Bora is now tinkering with the settings on the web security package, working his way through possible solutions. If he can't find one that works, we may have to switch off the forum again. Apologies in advance. (Especially if we can't find any way to bring the Forum back).

Thank you, Rick, for your efforts to keep the forum running.RickLewis wrote: ↑Mon Sep 09, 2024 10:33 am Hi folks. Quick update. Question: If you do shut the forum down and can't find a way to bring it back, is there any way we can acquire a bulk download of all of our own personal posts?
Also, and again, if you have no choice but to end the forum, is there any way of simply keeping the forum online as a read-only archive? It would be a shame for us to lose access to nearly two decades of these philosophical conversations.

Rick, an out there suggestion would be to run the FORUM off of an entirely different domain (even host IP) this would stop any security settings conflicting.RickLewis wrote: ↑Mon Sep 09, 2024 10:33 am Hi folks. If I may be of assistance (and I am probably speakin out of turn and Bora already knows this) but...RickLewis wrote: ↑Mon Sep 09, 2024 10:33 am Hi folks. Quick update. You don't have to put both the forum (forum.philosophynow.org) and the website (www.philosophynow.org) behind CloudFlare.
If you change the DNS for "www.philosophynow.org" from this...
To point to 158.69.203.30 then only the forum will remain behind Cloudflare.
Of course, if you have already done this and there are other reasons/details as to why this isn't workable - please do ignore me.

I've noted how easy it is to sign in, and stay signed in, lately.

Here we go again? Philosophy in slow motion?
Then connecting the dots between that and this...?
In total there are 2558 users online :: 7 registered, 1 hidden and 2550 guests (based on users active over the past 5 minutes)
Most users ever online was 6110 on Fri Jan 17, 2025 2:57 am

X has bazillions of bots operating all the time. It doesn't seem to affect it.
