odds, probability, chance.....

Post by Peter Kropotkin »

I have diabetes...along with high blood pressure
and high cholesterol and other such things...
and my doctor wants me to ''attack'' those diseases
more than I have......more than just taking the pills that
I have taken for many years.....

and it is interesting talking to her.... because she says, you have
a greater risk of this and this and this happening because
you have these risk factors.....

but think about it..... what she is really talking about is odds,
probability and chance..... if my diabetes stays here, this has
a greater probability of happening....but those are nothing more
than odds... you have a greater chance or odds of this happening.....
if all things remain the same.....

probability or chance... I have a chance of an airplane landing on my head
one day, I also have a chance of being hit by a meteorite, and a chance
of winning the lottery.... there are various rates of odds, but they are still
odds.... a possibility of something happening... and the odds of something
happening with diabetes is also possibilities... a chance something might happen....
the odds might increase, but the bottom line is there are just odds,
possibilities....

our entire existence is about odds, probabilities, chance....
it was chance that made me deaf..... and chance/probabilities that makes
you a male or a female....

the bottom line in existence, is the odds, the probabilities that
exists because we are alive.... I have a possibility of being attacked
by a dog.. as well as my odds of dying of a heart attack tomorrow....

as we go about our daily lives, we are faced with the odds...
the odds of dying of something... of a heart attack, of being hit
by a bus, an airplane falling out of the sky... or we have even
better odds or probability of being hurt by something...
of a UFO falling out of the sky... or a shopping cart hitting us,
or someone punching us.....

now my doctor is right, I have odds of something happening from
diabetes... but I also have probabilities or odds of being hit by a random
baseball, a falling UFO, or being haunted by ghost....

life is something that has odds or probabilities attached to it....
nothing is certain..... there are a million and one things that
could, could kill me or injure me.... and each one of those things is
just another odd or probability of something, something happening....
something.......

do I pause my life because of ''something might happen""
that there are some odds of it happening? or should I worry more
about a UFO falling out of the sky landing on my head?
it too has odds, a chance or a probability/possibility....

at what point does one just ignore the odds, the probability/
possibilities, and just goes about our daily life?

life has all kinds of probabilities and possibilities.... which ones do
I pay attention too and which ones do I ignore? and of course,
how do I decide between the two?

Once again you here ask questions, which the answers to are blatantly obvious to even young children.

Some odds, probabilities, or possibilities can be reduced to absolute zero, others cannot.

If you, still, do not the difference between which ones, or you, still, do not know which ones to pay attention to and which ones to ignore, by 'now', then I do not think that you will obtain the ability to learn in the very, very short time that you have left before it is to late for you to be able 'to decide' anymore.

K: amazing... you used less than a 100 words to say nothing...
usually, you use hundreds of words to say nothing... I think you
are improving your communication skills...and I hope you keep
up the good work.....

Coming from the one who is continually asking, 'What am I to do?' but hiding it behind, 'What are we to do?' you are literally saying nothing at all here.

If you, still, do not know what to do, and that some odds can be reduced to none at all, then you really have wasted your life.

After all of those years you, still, do not know how to decide what to pay attention to and what to ignore shows and proves just how little you have really learnt along the way here.

It doesn't sound like you are in a fit state to attack anything, Kropotkin.

...which only goes to show that life is one of nature's most important, most played probability games, its most unfavorable results humans have always tried to cancel out while simultaneously, intentionally or not, causing it to happen. Being the upshot of probability ourselves, we continue to be the instigators of it.
