I don’t know if this is like you, but what I do is consider whether what I read or hear is believable, consider whether the source is reputable and respected by people in general, and consider whether the source has a reason to lie.

Any unverifiable (to a rational skeptic) force or person claimed to have real effects; god, chakras, chi, Bigfoot, vibes, karma, solipcism, horoscopes, fate (from a perfective, not an explanatory direction), honest politicians...
