Oh, sorry.vegetariantaxidermy wrote: ↑Thu Nov 25, 2021 5:56 am What does 'marginalized' even mean? Who are these people?
"Marginalized" is a jargon word, used by the Leftist/Critical Theory set, that means "people who are pushed to the margins of society." They're called "the marginalized."
So, for example, aboriginals, persons of colour, sex minorities, and so forth are called "marginalized" groups, and treated as deserving of extra attention and benefits, and of a higher moral status than "non-marginalized" groups, such as white males. Women, as a group, are sort of "semi-marginalized": relative to white males, they are considered "marginalized," but relatives to persons of colour, lesbians, or natives, they're "privileged," and hence considered almost as "oppressive" as white males.
Of course, it's arrant hogwash built upon a very thin wafer or truth. It is true that some of these groups have historically not had the lions' share of consideration in the shaping of the public agenda. Fair enough. But today, these groups are disproportionately powerful, and completely dominate mainstream discourse and public policy. So if they ever were "marginalized," they are certainly over-emphasized today.
Still this stuff has nothing to do with common sense. It has to do with the politics of the Left. So "marginalization" is certainly a concept you have every reason to find suspect.
What it indicates is certainly that the threat of COVID was wildly exaggerated. The excessiveness of the "precautions," from the overproduction of beds to the overprescription of medication, to the insistence on social distancing and masks for the already-innoculated, to the mandating of "passports" for our movement in-country, even though those "passports" do nothing (except possibly disadvantage "marginalized" people) -- all that shows that the story the "experts" are trying to sell to us just doesn't make sense. And just because those extra facilities haven't been needed (so far) doesn't indicate a conspiracy. It's merely a case of 'better safe then sorry' I suppose.
So you've got to wonder, why are they asking us to believe it at all? And shouldn't we at least wait until they sort out what "anti-COVID" measures actually work, and until at least they find a way to make up a story that is actually at least reasonably consistent and rational before we all buy in?
