No idea how its connected As but you've made me laugh about cultural differences, as I've remembered an old saw amongst British Comedians, i.e. "Audiences are not allowed to heckle!? Result!!", it came from a story I heard about a Brit comedian in the States hearing the words, "Sir! The artist will be allowed to finish his act. If you have criticism you may voice it at the end.".
But what made me laugh was a story about a Yank comedian in Birmingham(UK ) who freaked at being heckled, lost it and basically told the heckler 'Look Buddy, you don't know who I am, I could make your life's karma very bad, or some weird shit, etc..." There was a big embarrassed pause amongst the audience, then the voice came back(in a Brummie accent) "I'll take me chances...you're shit!".

But it reminds me of the time my husband and I went to a local comedy club....there was that one guy from 'king of queens'...i think his name is spence on the show (he wasn't famous at the time yet though)....anyway...he was really bombing onstage. He was doing a routine about suicide and you could hear a pin drop. All of a sudden my husband leans over to me and whispers in my ear, "Don't tell us...show us."

Of course this made me bust out laughing because I was thinking the same thing...and then to get the visual of him actually committing suicide on stage and that it would possibly be more entertaining (yeah I'm a sick fuck sometimes). Anyway...I think "Spence" Was just grateful someone on was laughing....poor guy.

Although this is not knocking the Yank contribution to Comedy, which is vast.

I think you delude yourself, its much more likely that he heard your peal of laughter as the 'last slice', who knows? Which is why we heckle over here, to get the 'embarrassment' off-stage or give them a chance to shine.

Hi AS, glad you like it ! It's amazing what you find when you become besotted by someone....that Goethe fella....

One thing about the poem, it seemed very familiar.' Little birds fall silent in the woods...soon you'll also be at rest..'
Apparently, Goethe wrote this ( Nightsong II ) on Sept 6th, 1780 - adapting it from the lyrics of a Greek poet, Alcaman.
But I sure never heard of him ! So where....?

What do you mean by 'taught'? Does it increase ones 'pleasure' in 'hearing' 'classical' music if one understands its structure? I think so but it'd depend heavily upon what one thought that 'pleasure' was when hearing such sounds? For myself, I have a very crude split between 'music' to dance too and 'music' to listen too, but appreciate that you can dance too pretty much anything.
Kids I've met have a whole meta-language about the music they listen too and have upbraided me for my ignorance in such matters as to the simplistic construction of the songs and lyrics that I've liked. But as I point out to them, do they listen to the actual lyrics? Coz my message is always sound. Personally, I've always consoled myself about black-slavery in that the African Drum beat may have not made it to my shores and I'd have had my youth dancing to such as without it, and whilst I love Strauss, the Celts and Saxon Folk, it'd not be the same or as much fun I reckon

So depending what you mean by 'delight', yes I think so. Why the question about 'sharing'? Given the thread.
What is a 'philosophical way' in such matters? Or this thread.
