Your comment adds weight to the opinion expressed by Commonsense. The best thing to actually do is for all sides in a dispute to gather the most reliable info and the finest judges , and discuss terms with each other before violence.When violence is unavoidable there is international law, and accepted rules of war regarding treatment of prisoners and civilians.

international law & courts is sorta like small claims court: you can get a judgement against the other guy from the court, but enforcin' is on you

anyway: I'm not talkin' about a disputed tract of land or some unjust embargo...what's on the table today, it seems to me, is the very direct & plain war between freedom and slavery...there are folks who see themselves as the directors of all men and they aren't dissuaded by reason, and there are folks who are free, who intend to stay free, and they won't be moved by threats

what's the common ground between them?

what meaningful accommodations can either side make?
