Can we all just get along? R. Kingcommonsense wrote: ↑Tue Sep 22, 2020 3:57 pm To Anyone and Everyone:
No matter who you are or what you believe, your opponents’ views are the same as the Bizarro World version of your own.
Have a little empathy. Understand that your opponent is in the same frustrating predicament as you.
You think they will destroy whatever is most important to America. They think the same of you.
You think they are all extremists. They think your side harbors extreme beliefs.
You think they are demented. They think you are demented.
From either viewpoint, we are right and they are Bizarro.
We can’t all be right, but I suppose we can all be Bizarro.
no, we can't
consider...
rbg is dead and I'm hearin' the standard disclaimer, I disagreed with her on virtually everything but I respected her as a justice and a person
how exactly does that work?
how does one separate the person from the ideas he's holds?
if one truly believes the ideas point in the direction of the leash, how can one respect the person who holds to such ideas?
there is no common ground between the slaver and the free: it's not possible

If you cut me, do I not bleed as you?
No one? No one at all?
You do realize, don’t you, that those who say it’s OK to hate the messenger should expect the same vitriol from the other side of an issue?

In numbers there is strength. Who wants to fight alone against millions? Mostly the rugged individualists, I suppose.

the man who wants a leash 'round my neck, he's whose messenger?
I'm well aware of the hatred, by the slaver, for the free
we all bleed: I aim to make him bleed more than me

anyone who is free and intends to stay that way

Why else would slave keepers terrorise their slaves? nobody likes being bossed around, so rulers have to do the carrot and stick technique. Slave owners don't need to bother with the carrot as the slaves can't vote.henry quirk wrote: ↑Fri Sep 25, 2020 1:02 pmcontext, BBelinda wrote: ↑Fri Sep 25, 2020 9:04 am Henry Quirk wrote:

common wrote about people gettin' along, I explained why that's not possible (cuz fundamentally, the struggle is between two opposin' view points with no common ground)Belinda wrote: ↑Fri Sep 25, 2020 5:18 pmWhy else would slave keepers terrorise their slaves? nobody likes being bossed around, so rulers have to do the carrot and stick technique.
