Is that what it's all about? Climate scientists are lying to dupe us all into communism? furthermore, if socialism were able to save humanity from self-destruction where capitalism cannot wouldn't that make socialism worth pursuing? Or is it better that humanity destroys itself rather than sacrifice some liberty (albeit mostly the liberty of wealthy corporations)? If it came down to either/or, which is more important, sacrificing some liberty or life itself? Question to you, Impenitent. :?:
sacrifice liberty... for god... for utopia... for the planet...

if you think you are saving the planet by being a slave, move to the ussr...

this is exactly why we have a second amendment...

and watch the party after the 15th biden recount in december

I see dead leftists

Didn't really answer my question but that's sadly par for the course.

Killing our host is cutting off our link, connection to the life support system that is the planet. I’m sure we cannot kill the planet, but it sure as heck can kill us.

Dear angel, I didn't think you meant that. When I first wrote Chapter 25, it was clear to me that Earth was not in trouble as much as we were with our sick and dying ecosystems that will likely take most of us out with them in time. The negative karmic effect of the thing has momentum that scientists now know can't be stopped; and the bad karma of our foolishness can't be stopped either; karma "locks in and doesn't let go till the full price is paid."

My chapter title might be changed from:
This Planet Will Not Die
to
This Planet Will Not Die Yet

as per SpheresOfBalance's observation, but with the addition of "Yet" the title falls flat. I'll just leave it as it is as a title congratulating Mother Earth upon her amazing powers.

Actually, when I wrote the piece my question to myself was if the damage to Earth was severe enough to destroy its capacity to support life, will it be able to recover and support life at all? (in other words, will the Earth be dead?) I mentioned my question to someone, and they indicated it was silly. I didn't have the benefit of the mass extinction list at the time, which I suppose shows Earth's record of great recovery powers. It was recalling all the amazing processes Earth goes through with volcanoes and lava deep down that persuaded me Earth can handle Herself and our 'piddling' pollutions were going to be nothing to Her.

You and I agree that our number is up, but the Earth's isn't. Good for the big Mother. She can flick us off into eternity and carry on. Do any more feel like being nice to Her, just for the record, even though....

PS. A minor point is that as the earth recovers, humans can also make a comeback which will be coordinated by the Mother. It seems this game is finished, but a new game will no doubt start up, and the record or memory of all our 'fabulous achievements' will likely be, to the new game's players, "lost in the mists of time." Future archeologists will be excited discovering our graves etc. and wondering what on Earth we were all about.

Thanks for this, a most interesting read.

What ever happens, it’s all a dream anyway. One of many in an infinite ocean of pure potential. 👍

Observing and reporting back to ourselves our observations..is like being lucid, in the sense we are both the dreamer and the dream.

California's problem right now is twofold: first, environmentalists put an end to cutting of firebreaks and removal of tree debris, preparing for the inferno. Secondly, Cali's aging, unrepaired power grid sparks additional fires, even when pyros and lightning aren't doing it.

What Gary's suggesting doesn't solve either of these problems. So fires are in Cali's future, so long as the policies which created the problem are in place.

I’m talking about the play of consciousness...go figure, no wait don’t bother, you probably won’t understand that there is no human to kill itself, but no worries,it’s your belief, not mine.

Consciousness is the only knowing there is, and this knowing is observing and reporting what it observes, which is manifested as knowledge, which once again as I’ve said multiple times, informs the illusory nature of existence, in that there is only what is appearing within consciousness itself, aka nothing being everything.

As consciousness we can predict the future by observing the present by remembering the past.

As for your apparent adverse hysteria in what’s being discussed here, I’m simply not interested in that. I like to discuss what’s really happening, not what I think, desire, want or wish to be happening.

these...

Humans are an anti-natural, omnicidal, unsustainable species.

...are your words, not mine

the hysteria is all yours

and: how do you square Humans are an anti-natural, omnicidal, unsustainable species. with there is no human to kill itself?

the two don't jibe

I'm not talking about wildfires. I'm talking about mass extinctions and what could be the end of humanity. And I'm not suggesting anything only asking a question of which would be more important if it came down to it, losing some freedom (mostly for major corporations to plunder the world) versus the destruction of humanity. Whether it really does come down to that choice, I don't know. But if it did what would be more important.

so: one could say california suffers from environmentalist-driven destruction

On the basis of what data, Gary?

Based on various things I've read about mass extinctions. Do you think we'll survive a mass extinction? Or do you think there won't be mass extinctions from a rapidly changing climate? I don't understand.

Gary, Gary, Gary..."various things I've read"? Is that your idea of data? C'mon, bud.
Do you think we'll survive a mass extinction?
I'm wanting to know on what basis you think one is impending. If the threat is as serious as you say, isn't it important to have the best data? So I'm just asking where that data came from, that's all.

I'm not a climate scientist, only a consumer of more accessible news produced by those who are, so I don't have raw data. But stuff like this is certainly not encouraging.
