What would China or Russia gain if they defeated the West in a cyberwar?
Aside from control of many resources, are there other benefits for the victor?
Along with the positives, would the winner face problems that did not exist pre-war?
For the losers, what would be necessary for economic recovery to take place?
Would the Brits and Yanks find themselves in detention centers?
What might be retained rather than obliterated from Western culture or values?

At this point in time, I'd say it's unlikely China or Russia will defeat America in a cyberwar.
America is still the cutting edge when it comes to computers.

cyberwar - ask the ukrainians - at most will allow a power black out.commonsense wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 7:27 pm What would China or Russia gain if they defeated the West in a cyberwar?

chaos for a short time at most.
think mosquitos.
i doubt the chinese/russians would invade via their red armies, nor lauch thier missiles, unless they welcome WW3.
which they do not of course.

to tit for tat, and vise versa, cyber is nothing outside of that.
it works if you are Ukraine more than if you are America, but not much more, still awaiting the red army occupying Kiev.

you can't "defeat" another nation without backing it up with arms.Gloominary wrote: ↑Thu Jul 16, 2020 1:40 am At this point in time, I'd say it's unlikely China or Russia will defeat America in a cyberwar.

best you can do is remove the power grid for a couple of weeks (ask any ukrainians here about that one a few yrs ago).
unless you are willing to back it up with an army.
