Re: The Free Will Pill
There is a problem with the premise that "free will" gives some form of satisfaction as it places a massive weight of accountability on the shoulders who argue it.
They have to take the "darkness" and form it into light by sheer self-hood.
On the other hand a strict determinism leaves the same negative side effects..."I am locked in the abyss forever?"

Re: The Free Will Pill
Am I the only one who sees a problem in choosing a pill without free will?
You can't decide to take a free will pill, without possessing free will, which you don't have, because it's in the pill!

Re: The Free Will Pill
One of us believes in free will and the other doesn't. What's the difference in what we do? And can you tell which is which by watching us?
Re: The Free Will Pill
Are you suggesting that the red pill was ever a choice for Neo?

Re: The Free Will Pill
If people truly had free will society would descend into anarchy!
Re: The Free Will Pill
You sound like the Grand Inquisitor, people need to be led by their noses whether by religion or other means. People wouldn't want free will even if it could be offered.
Re: The Free Will Pill
Isn't forcing free will an oxymoron? But I think that most people like to be told how to act - they believe in moral maxims that are handed to them by religion or society or parents and then rather thoughtlessly follow them. It is too much pressure to act freely.

Ever taken an IQ test? What you say makes no sense, it's incoherent babble!Wyman wrote: ↑Mon Feb 11, 2019 9:13 pm Isn't forcing free will an oxymoron?
