The Saturday afternoon debates are completely free. There is no need to book, just turn up. (In fact, there is no way to book.)
They are not debates with one or two people on each side, arguing for or against a motion. Instead, the person running the debate introduces the topic for about ten minutes, then leads a discussion in which everyone else does most of the talking (not all at once - we are civilized creatures). Whoever is running the debate will gently keep the discussion on topic, and will now and then introduce new aspects of the topic to consider.
The Wednesday evening lectures under the title "Kant's Cave" take place in a room above a pub, which we do have to hire. So there is no charge to members (membership is available to anyone, at £15 a year or only £12 by standing order), but we do ask non-members to contribute £2. Again, there is no booking, just turn up.
Anyone who is interested should go to the PFA website
