It seems that you find the science boring or difficult so you reduce a physics issue to mere personalities and politics.henry quirk wrote: ↑Tue Nov 06, 2018 3:53 pmFor the grass roots adherents, yes it is.

Let's say human-driven climate change is real.
Would this...
"The Climate-Change fad is a religion."
For the grass roots adherents, yes it is.
For the folks runnin' the show it's a 'means'.
...be invalidated?
I don't think so.
That is: the (ir)reality of human-driven climate change has nuthin' at all to do with the fervor of the grass roots or the opportunism of the show-runners.
Zealots and Zealot Masters only require the 'Cause'...real or not is irrelevant.
You know this, Greta.

Sorry, but you are confusing yanks with 'everyone else on the planet'. The rest of the world just doesn't 'think' the way you do, where EVERYTHING is part of a 'commie conspiracy' or political agenda. 99 percent of scientists are saying it's happening because...it's....happening, NOT because of some conpiracy to diddle giant corporations out of their 'god-given profits'.henry quirk wrote: ↑Tue Nov 06, 2018 11:51 pm Let's say human-driven climate change is real.

"99 percent of scientists are saying it's happening"
Is that 99% of ALL scientiists, 99% of *'climate' scientists, or 99% of scientists polled, or...
*how many 'climate' scientists are there anyway?

This issue is about physics, biology and technology but Henry would rather speak about the emotions of people he doesn't like.
It doesn't help that projected scenarios (melting ice, Pacific Island inundation, wildfire prevalence) keep being found to be conservative rather than alarmist. Young people have more to lose and they will be dealing with the anthropogenic environmental imbalances long after the denialists are safely tucked underground.

"avoid facing the reality"
I've offered a site with tons of 'physics, biology and technology' and neither you or veg have done much with it 'cept sniff at it, and I'm the one not facing reality?
You in particular, Greta: you pride yourself on being an advocate of science, of investigation. If you truly were you'd understand there is no 'settled' science, there's only the particular way station any particular discipline happens to be at the moment.
Me: I've expressed profound doubts about the current, conventional assessment of climate change. I've offered a site chockablock with on-going investigation and science. My mind is still open.
You and veg: not so much.
*shrug*
It's your head.
'nuff said (to you both on this subject).
For anyone less blinkered: https://wattsupwiththat.com/

Actually everyone on the planet. 'Deniers' are just self-serving fuckwits.henry quirk wrote: ↑Wed Nov 07, 2018 1:03 am Is that 99% of ALL scientiists, 99% of *'climate' scientists, or 99% of scientists polled, or...

you offer nothing here.vegetariantaxidermy wrote: ↑Mon Oct 29, 2018 4:59 amHow is it any of your business what the 'Brits' want? Brexit? (Englander)?
if so kiss Gibralter and N. Ireland goodbye - neither are worth "the troubles"/barbed wire/guards/etc....
say goodbye to them.
and thank your pinheaded moronic Britianers for not seeing the inevitable domino effect of that vote.
to..........losing Ireland, Gibralter and...........wait for it............wait....................wait.......
SCOTLAND - then the reforendum come around again after Brexit and the Scotts see the foolishness and dismal economy and say "fuck this UK we are out!" - to return to the EU - which they voted to stay in in 2016 anyway!
---2020
UK =England
LOL, serves the RUBES reich, the fools!
yes the Brits will play "bunker" and lose not only Northern Ireland (which will be absorbed into the Republic of Ireland (ya! thanks Brixit! - could/would have been prevented it not for the 52/48 - but not so via rubic history - so take your medicine and kiss N Ireland goodbye.
and Scottland too.
2-percentage points - who would have thought - such is enough to remove the UK for a position of stature to a backwater without Ireland nor Scotland or Gibrliter.
by 2024 England with equal UK.
serves them right - that equvalency was easily seen years ago as the result of Brixit vote (if one had a fking mind! for repercussions).

1. I don't "pride myself" in anything. I enjoy and respect science.
2. There certainly is settled science, otherwise there'd be no medicine, GPS, engineering, architecture, biology or space travel.
Nothing is ever 100% guaranteed but the science is in and you are too blinkered to accept it.
Your mind was never open. You are just following Republican policy without even having the slightest understanding, thinking your one piddly little link makes up for nearly all scientists and their lifetimes of dedication and study.

Is that a joke? Those links don't appear to be saying anything about anything.henry quirk wrote: ↑Tue Nov 06, 2018 12:18 am I see: you're a style-over-substance kinda gal.
Fair enough.
I'm guessin' you haven't actually read anything from either site, yeah?
'Decor' was just too dreary for you, yeah?
Anywho: for the rest of you, again...

There is a Climate Change Industry and there is a Climate Change Denial Industry. $$$ is to be made on both sides, which is the main motivator here, so naturally they would battle each other.
(The fact that climate change happens to be very real, is just a side note here. If anything, it makes people invested in the Climate Change Industry happy, their side will bring in more $$$ on the long run.)
