How would you control the world population?

Post by Philosophy Explorer »

If you wanted to control the population, how would you go about it? Assuming you had the technology, what would you do? Reduce the sex drive? Poison and kill the population?

Would you apply this to the entire population or be selective about it? Or maybe you feel it's not a problem (the Chinese wouldn't agree). Another possibility is taxation. What can you add to this discussion?

I fear that one day this question of yours becomes relevant by one (1) person controlling the entire population.

Personally, I'd let men dance naked with exciting and attractive naked females, and if the men fire, they get killed by a firing squad. This can go on for hours, weeks, years at a time.

Quandum caveat loquaitur des mundes pro quarantinum est sequa pipi. Self-discipline rules the mind, the mind rules the body, the body rules self discipline. Something always fails in this vicious game of rocks, papers, scissors.

Gay men obviously won't be affected by this method, which is just as well. Gay men only pose a threat to world population if there are too few of us,and we want the population number "up".

-------------------

Another way to control world population is to allow global warming caused by man go wild and even more rampant. Some of us will perish in the heat, or get drowned by the rising brime of the oceans in coastal areas. Only a few will survive: those who take to heat well, and those who mutate to breathe with gills.

Make birth control pills and condoms free for all women. They are who make the ultimate decision.

Well, then, also for the pope and the clergy.

Make the situation so unbearable -- not enough drinking water, people dying of malnutrition by the millions, people eating horse and cow droppings -- by bringing more and more hungry mouths into the world, that it will spark a global war of attrition.

The survivors will reap the benefits of a less densely populated world.

... and men. More education for men as well. These are typically highly male-dominated societies, and male dominance diminishes with education of males, not of females. Females are forced to fight for emancipation, and are aided in this fight by education, but uneducated men will never respond to demands of equality as well as educated men.

Excellent point, although in many of these cultures the education of men goes as normal but women are actively prevented because they are seen as unworthy of education.

- industrial countries has low birth rates, so give people jobs with career
- promote videos about pregnancy gives stretchmarks, and results in cutted vaginas and bursted vaginal/anal area so people that doesn't receive medical treatment can't hold their fecal matter
- show them videos about stressed parents
- give them wealthfare so that they don't need kids to earn them money

Excellent point, while also one must consider that "education for men goes as normal" is a tiny bit unrepresentative of how we read this fact. Normal in North America, Europe and Australia is general education to and including secondary school for both sexes; in developing countries, normal is either state-run and subsidized education for the overwhelming population to grade 4, or else no state-run and subsidized education whatsoever.

In Haiti, Zimbabwe, The Chad, The Sudan, Afghanistan, Bangla Desh, etc. etc. etc. people need to pay for their children's education from grade one onward, and that is affordable only by a very limited and shallow stratum of the cream of society. That is normal in those parts.

The male privilege of access to education starts and ends in the privileged classes in developing countries. Women and men study when the patriarch of the clan allows them. This mostly favours men, but so does every other privilege.

Here's an idea: instead of 'controlling' the population, why don't we get out into space?

We've got the know-how and the resources.

Sol System is BIG, the resources 'out there' are enormous.

Done right, there's all kind of opportunities to 'be fruitful and multiply'.

Would you promote access or cut back access to Internet porn? Promoting would effect masturbation, and thus, a replacement for replicative sex. However, porn may put ideas into people's heads, "hey, why don't I try this myself sometimes?" This is a double -edged sword, pornography is.

I think we lack the money and accessible arable land with water supply.

Heck, we, as a species, never have succeeded in a hydropod experiment. Whereby people are sealed off hermetically in a chamber, with any arrangement of oxygen, carbon dioxide, water, dirt, manure, plant seeds, sunlight, livestock, farming tools, and given only these, sustain a renewable ecosystem. So we may not have the tech to go to out into space to multiply and divide.

Baby steps, -1-.

We've got the ISS as the first stepping stone, we've got proof of concept in place, we have the resources (on the dirt and in orbit).

What we lack is the will.

As you will.

What is ISS? I hate it when people are too lazy to write out non-obvious abbreviations in long hand. All it would take them is three seconds to write it out, and bang, in a flash their posts would make sense. As it stands, and because I don't know what the shiny fuck you mean by ISS, I have no clue what you are talking about.
