Can we actually see an infinite amount of colors?

Can we actually see an infinite amount of colors?

Specifically what I have in mind is white because it's supposed to be composed of all the colors.

What do you think?

I can't see infrared and ultraviolet. I heard other people have trouble seeing them too. Spooky! :mrgreen:

I would think that within the visible spectrum, when you get to colors that are very close you will find that light comes in discrete wavelengths which would mean that there are not an infinite number of colors but a definite step between one wavelength and the next. I believe that Einstein suggested that light came discrete bundles of energy. This idea would also apply to all the other spectrum of light.

Infrared and ultraviolet are irrelevant to the visible (to humans) spectrum.
