Personally, I think #4, 5 & 6 are most likely.
Sorry if I change the subject slightly, one of the criticisms I have heard about Jesus's coming to Earth was why didn't he tell the people something useful, like that germs cause disease rather than demons, but would the people of the time have understood or just dismissed him as just another crazy with some crazy idea. If you are really good you tailor the message to what the listener can understand.Greta wrote: ↑Wed Apr 18, 2018 12:46 amPersonally, I think #4, 5 & 6 are most likely.
Imagine if we/our AI found a civilisation akin to ancient Rome on another planet. There is no way they would go barging in because then there would be no way of knowing what the populations would have been like before seeing us - the observations would be tainted. I expect that at least microbial risks would have been solved by then if our tech was so advanced. So, most likely, we'd engage in covert abductions![]()
Perhaps it's too late?
Yeah long ago we came up with the answer of 42 but it was forgotten, so now the Vogons will have to clean up.thedoc wrote: ↑Wed Apr 18, 2018 4:17 amPerhaps it's too late?
The ships hung in the sky in much the same way that bricks don't.
People of Earth, your attention, please. This is Prostetnic Vogon Jeltz of the Galactic Hyperspace Planning Council. As you will no doubt be aware, the plans for development of the outlying regions of the Galaxy require the building of a hyperspatial express route through your star system. And regrettably, your planet is one of those scheduled for demolition. The process will take slightly less than two of your Earth minutes. Thank you.
There’s no point in acting surprised about it. All the planning charts and demolition orders have been on display at your local planning department in Alpha Centauri for 50 of your Earth years, so you’ve had plenty of time to lodge any formal complaint and it’s far too late to start making a fuss about it now. ... What do you mean you’ve never been to Alpha Centauri? Oh, for heaven’s sake, mankind, it’s only four light years away, you know. I’m sorry, but if you can’t be bothered to take an interest in local affairs, that’s your own lookout. Energize the demolition beams.
I don't know, apathetic bloody planet, I've no sympathy at all.

Intelligent alien life exists. One we cannot understand. Computers and the internet and the web.Philosophy Explorer wrote: ↑Tue Apr 17, 2018 4:09 am If so, where? Every day I see new articles, both pro- and anti-alien.
