issue 73: Spider-Man the brachiator

Post by Woody »

In the articles on comics and philosophy, there was no mention of Spider-Man's brachiation with his web ropes as being related to the density of skyscrapers in Manhattan. I would love to see a comparison of Spider-Man and Tarzan in this respect. A good case could be made for saying that Spider-Man's brachiation expresses someting philosophically about life in New York City, especially NYC as a microcosm of the United States and the 20th century world.

I don't subscribe to PN ... but I hope they covered Judge Dredd ("I am the law") and Judge Death ("Life is the crime and the sentence is death.") in depth.
