Thanks Pluto. I was more focused on the music than the video and didn't notice the latter. The riff was okay but I usually prefer lots of variation in my music. Come to think of it, there's no hypnotic music at all that I like.Pluto wrote:It was youtube that put it on following something else I was listening to - and I thought it sounded good. The visuals are not so good - a bit pretentious - but the guitar riff I like - and repeat is good yes - I also like the 'loop' in video - the beat is a bit like walking or marching, and the end is good because it's so final and abrupt.
Go Alfie! You had fun with the clip, didn't you? After all, you are even older than I am. Stylish guitar work. You need a drummer to make it come alive IMO, but I'm fatally biased :)Harbal wrote:Then I've got the very thing for you, Greta. Come to think of it, probably not. I am still finding music I've not heard from the 90s and 00s, when I was doing other things and out of touch with the scenes.Pluto wrote:Greta - by this you mean you listen to no music from now?I'm old school
I have this Orwellian fantasy idea where modern humans are jerkily dancing along to machine music. Unlike musicians, the machines don't need to pee or rest or drink or tune up or socialise or even breathe. Instead they just drive the humans on and on relentlessly, never letting them rest for a moment. The dancers are then forced to take amphetamines and other stimulants in order to keep up.Pluto wrote:Dancing to acid house at the hacienda late 80s was a bit like this - we were dancing to music that defined (in a way) the time, modern technology was used to push music making - and we were dancing to it - this is why I also like music made on a computer.
Ha! My nephew likes that kind of music. I just find it irritating. When I was young I loved hard rock. It was exciting and stimulating. Now it feels like an assault to me.Pluto wrote:Nowadays the times are so fucked-up with war and death, etc - terror attacks the new norm - that music as yet can't match it - can't deal with it convincingly - like advertisements can't also - and so both revert to tried-and-tested formulas such as sex and desire, celebrity and pleasure. A lot of this music can be heard whilst shopping - and is almost, it seems - its job - to be a background to your purchase.
