How to do philosophy...

Post by karl_creech »

Titles a joke, on purpose I promise. Has anybody any advice for someone aspiring to be a professor of philosophy? I'm an american and I like to think. I really haven't the slightest clue what's going to happen to me as I progress through the education process, any information is appreciated. 8)

Here

Philosophy Now kindly provides some of it's articles for free, and it so happens that the most recent issue includes an article on that very topic

Get a PhD from a good school. This is a bare minimum. You'll also need to get something published in a top-ranking journal. Teaching experience is less crucial although it always helps.

wow, thanks for that link. It's a pretty good article. I definitely want a ph.d. by the way. Are there teaching opportunities while I'm an undergraduate usually.
