He wrote a good art book called farewell to an idea, it was about the death of modernism and socialism, that they happened at the same time, It is seen as quite an important book in art circles. This video, is him being anti-capitalist and trying to read events differently, it is not as good as I thought it'd be. You should give it 10 minutes, that usually does it.

Seems to be talking about how our 'addiction' to the visual ( e.g. billboard advertisements, cellphone images of immediate events) might eventually wear out; just as magic,art and religion are weaker in their attempts to convince or captivate ?
Not sure that it is an 'addiction' for most of us, it is merely natural. We look and learn, for better or worse.
Of course, I may have totally misunderstood...his voice...didn't inspire me. Listening is an art, indeed. But this time, not captivating.
