Can a hotdog ever be a sandwich?

Post by FlashDangerpants »

Sandwiches are well known to be comprised of a filling between two slices of bread. But a hotdog is a filling between two ends of a bifurcated single bread. Is it morally permissable to cut that bun and hold the hotdog sideways like a sandwich?

Put it on a table and ask someone to pass you the sandwich. You'll have your answer.

Back your car over your hotdog.

Voila...instant sandwich!

Might not be ready to go to full sausage squashing at this juncture. What if we're only sandwich-curious?

No.

But it may want to "identify" as one.

Yes, but only if it’s a frankfurter.

The distinction between bifurcation and slicing is an issue that has been neglected by philosophers since antiquity; to their shame and our loss. But I am disgusted by your suggestion that hotdogs could be held sideways "like a sandwich'. Have you no shame?
