The New Miss America

Post by Nick_A »

Sometimes stupidity can become so bad it is actually good. One wonders how anyone could come up with this idea. Any belief in humanity being an intelligent creature must be abandoned when you read this

https://abcnews.go.com/GMA/Culture/miss ... d=55638426
Miss America is scrapping its swimsuit competition and will no longer judge contestants based on physical appearance, the organization announced Tuesday.

"We are no longer a pageant," Gretchen Carlson, the first former Miss America to be named chair of the Board of Trustees of the Miss America Organization, said on "GMA." "We are a competition."

In place of the swimsuit portion of the competition, Miss America contestants will now take part in a live interactive session with the judges, according to the organization.

The contestants from all 50 states and the District of Columbia will be asked to demonstrate their passion, intelligence and overall understanding of the job of Miss America.

The organization is also getting rid of the evening gown portion of the competition and instead asking contestants to wear attire that makes them feel confident and expresses their personal style. The contestants will also discuss how they will advance their chosen causes, called "social impact initiatives" by the Miss America Organization.
Can you imagine a bunch of guys having a beer and watching women dressed in yoga pants competing over who can be the most PC feminist? I feel sad for the station that has the TV contract for the event. Who the hell would want to watch this PC silliness?

I'm sure that a competitor will have a swimsuit competition in their show. Wasn't it Miss America or another show that dumped Bert Parks (age discrimination)?

Pageants have always been silly, and the participants even more silly.

I see it as progress. We atleast still have Sports Illustrated!

To be more on focus, many studies show that people couple based on looks and beauty so I'm saying that beauty is part of society (after all, we do have "beauty" parlors).

What have we sunk to when the celebration of female beauty in a bathing suit and elegance in an evening gown is sacrificed for competition over PC feminism?

What next? The dancers at the strip joint having to keep on their bikinis (at the end). No more bikinis at the beaches (limiting female freedom to express themselves). It seems that freedom of speech is being curtailed (football athletes being denied the right to kneel is another example).

Maybe the Miss America competition has opted for earning some PC points.

I think it's more like caving in. They can't compete, what with the huge decline of viewers (males 13-15, or males 67-88, historically being the bulk of the viewers), who opt for Internet porn instead.

Now they hope to increase their ratings by garnering progressive female viewers.

If they promote the show well, I bet the next female president of America will be at least a runner-up, if not the queen herself.

Blatant discrimination!!

No males are allowed in the competition!!

I've raised my son very rigorously form age three to compete in the pageant. Now, that he's seventeen, a virgin, as required, or at least not having been the centrepiece of some seventies-style soft porn movie, what am I going to tell him, when he asks, why he can't enter the competition?

I'm going to take this fight all the way to the supreme court of the United States of
America!! And then beyond!!!!!

I think that was part of the charm. These beautiful young girls, being silly.

The silly ideals added to their charm. The charm that youth, the innocent youth in the sweet spring of their lives, can only inspire.

But alas, no more.

PC wins another bout by split decision: 10-9, 10-9, 9-10.

They should have kept the Miss America Pageant as is but just added another event called the Miss American Feminist contest in which feminists would compete for the title of Miss American feminist. People could then choose what they would rather appreciate: the proportion, grace, and elegance of beautiful young women or women who know how to argue in competition. This will make everyone happy.

Men actually watch those? I don't know any who do. I thought only women did.
The whole American 'Beauty' pageant thing is beyond weird anyway. It's not even about beauty--otherwise how would a plain dumpling like Honey BooHoo win lots of them? There's apparently a formula you have to stick to  Have a look at them and they could all be the same person with different wigs and occasional skin tone variation.

Miss America was a beauty pageant. It was an admitted celebration of female beauty. For you and those who want to eliminate it, the chief attribute of female beauty is the ability for and the intensity of complaining. We have different perceptions of female beauty.
