Racism does it make sense?

Should you think about your duty, or about the consequences of your actions? Or should you concentrate on becoming a good person?

Racism does it make sense?

You don't have to watch this clip but I would, it would add context, but let me get straight to the point, do you think in a modern world where boundaries are becoming blurred, the idea of race makes any sense at all. Now I am not talking about in medicine where of course some peoples from certain places have certain disease that are more prevalent, nor about socialism where cultural differences are clear, but the more ignorant racism: ie Whites are smarter than Blacks but not as smart as the Chinese, the sort of dumbery that comes with a flavour and an agenda to pervert good science. Is it even worth it now, or is there a clear divide between races that should and must be acknowledged, what are your views?

Well that didn't attract any attention, I can only assume it's because people agree. Well that's good. :)

You've been talking in circles, since I've been able to cry.

There's never been any reason, for never telling me why, yea, yea.

Don't ecourage him SoB is on permanent ignore for a very good reason, now I have no idea what he said but I bet it goes something like this:

I am mighty you are not quake before my unimaginable power, blah, blah, fucking blah. It's like a listening to a 3 year old with a tin pot on his head. Fire and forget everything he says, and ever will, NPD (Narcissistic Personality Disorder, and in someone of his age to be so hopelessly innured in it is kind of bewildering) it's like watching a cartoon with Napoleon in it, and then remembering that Napoleon at least did something even though he was probably overcompensating for something. He's actually the only person on my ignore list, talking to him is like talking to God, it's pretty certain you wont get a reply that makes sense, and if you do it probably means you are mental.

Race is a biological concept, but it is a relative one. A powerful enough genetic test will reveal your ancestry as being derived from a certain area of the world, or more than one area.

http://anthropologynet.files.wordpress. ... europe.jpg

Using that concept, human beings can be divided into sub-types. I've also read that it is uncertain that humans and chimps cannot reproduce, so perhaps we are not as separate from the animal kingdom as we like to think.

Are there real intelligence differences between Africans, Asians and Europeans? I believe the evidence says there are but it is not yet certain whether there is a genetic component. I see no reason why not; African types dominate certain kinds of sport for reasons based in their genetics.

Whether you have any racial preferences is, I think, a matter of taste but with ethical and political implications.

Given that Poor Bill hasn't posted a Gif of them doing so, I think it highly unlikely.

It is only people who themselves struggle intellectually who think it is of any consequence. The data is meaningless; it is not feasible to carry out a large enough study and the results would be useless anyway; any difference will tell you nothing about any individual.

Can you cite a paper that supports this? I believe Africa has the greatest genetic variety on the planet, apparently more diversity than the rest of the world combined. If your hunch were true, Africans should dominate every sport, and probably the world. Do you think there is a genetic reason why the Swiss and Austrians are so dominant in downhill skiing?

Well, yes; that is facile enough to be uncontroversial.

sigh

i can change my race by changing my hairstyle

a more thorough change would require controlling exposure to the sun one way or another

these days by default i am a light skinned black girl who speaks a bit too white

i have older family members who used to avoid the sun back in the day because if they got too tanned they would start getting accused of 'passing' (we are talking USA 1950 and 60s South here). yet they thought of themselves as white and were not aware of any black ancestors

i had one cop tell me that he would describe me as hispanic if he had to do an apb on me cause I am not quite black enough to be described as black - and i am clearly not white

the whole notion of race is abusrd

You are having a laugh. Call that a paper? This is more like it: http://bmb.oxfordjournals.org/content/93/1/27.full Actually, I don't know anything like enough about genetics to say whether there is a gene for any specific sporting ability, but I'm fairly confident that at this moment in time, nor do geneticists. I am equally certain that there is no such gene that is exclusive to any particular community, but what I am absolutely certain of is that any such gene would not therefore make anyone who happened to have it 'sportier' than everyone who lacked it. Similarly, any difference in 'racial' intelligence is completely meaningless when it comes to judging an individual.

Okay, there is no current scientific consensus about whether the domination of some sports by some types of African has a genetic basis. We'll call that a draw. But I think this shines light on the issue:
Why do we so readily accept that evolution has turned out blacks with a genetic proclivity to contract sickle cell, Jews of European heritage who are one hundred times more likely than other groups to fall victim to the degenerative mental disease, Tay-Sachs, and whites who are most vulnerable to cystic fibrosis, yet find it racist to acknowledge that blacks of West African ancestry have evolved into the world’s best sprinters and East Asians, the best divers?

Genes circumscribe possibility. “I believe that we need to look at the causes of differences in athletic performance between races as legitimately as we do when we study differences in diseases between the various races,” notes Claude Bouchard, geneticist and director of the Pennington Biomedical Research Center at Louisiana State University.

True, but irrelevant to the academic question of racial differences.

That's very gracious of you. To be honest, I'm not bothered whether there is any genetic basis for sporting ability. Why do you care?

race makes no differents as to self identity.cos consciousness is independent of the brain.a brain is either selfish or socialy selfish or unselfish in its conscious awareness.a selfish brain will use race to serve its selfish cause which is its selfishness.racism or sexism gives a local advantage for a particular local identity over a different local identity.non locality being the one true indentity that we are born as.

i live in a very conservative southern USA community

last night an old white guy at the diner was going on about how black people think that the world owes them a living

i asked him to be more specific about the black people he means

he kind of sputtered and said that he did not mean black people like me, he meant the bums

i asked him if there was a difference between white bums and black bums and before he could answer that his wife told him to finish his coffee and then ushered him away

i am in a rare position of being able to fit in with 'white' and 'black' people. the whole thing is crazy

i am generally perceived as 'black' due to my choices in hair style and exposure to the sun (I tan very very easily)

my wife is pretty unequivocally a white girl

and our daughter is 'hispanic' and is beginning to ask questions about racial and ethnic identity - and then complains that our answers make no sense whatsoever
