Even a cursory application of reason to personal good shows it to be indistinguishable from the world around us; we are embodied beings. To be high-minded, in a literal sense since we're using our higher brain, we must broaden our scope to the good of the universe, as best we can imagine it, and then bring it home to the level of understanding where we can participate best.
