OK so why does it sell? We have to be honest about what we are and why we are this way

I haven't seen the film but I assume it's the style of dancing that you are offended by (started in the US). Blame the internet.
It isn't a matter of blaming but of understanding why we do what we do.
Look to your own country and ask why anyone would want to follow such a sick crap-hole.

does it? there's a difference between scumbags pushin' shit, and folks actually watchin' it, payin' for it

we're talkin' about it...lots of folks are...how many are actually consumin' it, though?

the still I link to, for example, is about as close to this garbage as I'm gonna get

Modern dance today is rather ugly, unsubtle and overtly suggestive. It's an AMERICAN style. Americans used to be the greatest dancers but it's just a sign of the times and the general decay and dumbing down of society --led by the US.
What do you expect when young girls copy this kind of thing? Do you call this porn?

The dangers of porn and actually is another question. But Beyonce in the video you posted is not an 11 year old girl. Some people feel something wrong about an 11 year old being sexualized but cannot put it into words. It is a worthwhile philosophical question: What is wrong with child porn as opposed to adult porn?

Dance isn't porn. Those girls are simply following the latest trend. It's only porn in 'your' mind.

So the question remains: before deciding if dance can become porn we have to decide what porn is and if there a difference between child and adult porn?

Who is 'we'? There is no such thing as 'child porn'. It's child rape.

Since "porn" derives from the Greek for depictions of prostitutes, any human offered for sale, or offering themselves for sale for the purpose of sex and depicted in any graphic medium can be called pornography.
If a child is offered up for sexual gratification in depictions that is porn, which is morally and legally wrong. If a child is touched then that is rape.
If a depiction of a "dance" is done for the purpose of sex with a view to commercial exploitation then that is "porn."

When they call a dance erotic, then that is "art".

So accepting your definition for the moment, are the dance scenes in Cuties pornographic? If they are, what does it say about humanity willing to entice 11 year olds not fully developed into pornography. Most sense something is wrong with it but cannot put it into words. Who can?

It's quite a leap from Netflix to the whole of humanity, Nick. I consider myself part of humanity, and I haven't enticed anybody into anything.

I'm referring to the sociological perspective concerned with how society as a whole works. Plato called it the Beast. But within the Beast, all people are different. But why is society as a whole so ignorant of the purposes of sex energy or so eager to profit out of sexualizing 11 year olds that we allow it to happen?
