Witch's Evil

Post by Systematic »

There are a few sins that can be committed in witchcraft which most witches would agree are actual sins—not just the exaggerations of the Christian ethic.

The first is skilless practice, which is exemplified in the anecdote of “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice”. Basically, practice without mastery or a master present is dangerous, and should not be attempted.

The second is “dark” practice. That is prohibited by the Wiccan Rede. “And thou harm none, do as thou wilt.” Curses are particularly dangerous, and backfire if not done properly. You will often hear witches quoting the maxim “Love and Light”. Curses are prohibited in most every case.

Satanism is the bane of most practitioners as dark practice and a bigotted approach to Christianity are common in Satanism. Most witches, while not agreeing with Christian libel concerning the craft, are respectful of Christianity as a choice.

The third is subverting choice. No one should be forced into witchcraft or associating with witchcraft. Although witches wisely debate against the slander, they do not convert people or hard-sell the religion.

Here in Nepal the topic of witches is commonplace. Female witches are called Boksis. They are not nice. They mostly practice "dark" magic. Men are afraid of them and they are everywhere. Quite often they are members of one's own family, such as a mother-in-law and they want revenge for some perceived wrong. Most commonly they can make a man impotent. But they can also cause backaches and such. Even medical doctors here believe in them and they will advise you see a Tantrik or a shaman jhakri. Western Wiccan practice is much nicer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=og7I156OYd0 and also https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtJzPmWs7Rk
