Are there any ethical businesses in this world?

Post by Philosophy Explorer »

It's common to hear about unethical business practices. So when was the last time you heard about the ethical ones?

What would constitute a good code of ethics for businesses? I don't think do unto others as you would have them do unto you would cut it. What is fair in the business world? For example, in my country, we have laws against undercutting other businesses with cheap prices. There are many ways this discussion can turn depending on what you look at.

So what do you think?

Good answer :)

Certainly their business model - with employees being partners in the business - has proved successful. It increases job satisfaction and reduces strikes and "stock shrinkage".

It is possible that it could be a model for future businesses.

Plus they have a proportional wage structure, so the top earn a multiple of the bottom and if the top wish more pay then they must increase profit to raise the bottom as well.

There is much more to being ethical than being simply fair to it's employees. Even though a business may do precisely that it doesn't preempt it from being far less ethical in the way it conducts business externally.

In response to what the topic question asks:

See this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_w ... operatives

Does it reply to the question? Is this site relevant?
