Good Art needs Conflict of some kind?

I don't know if anyone have said this yet but I'll do it anyway: How many movies or books have you read, which didn't include some kind of catastrophe(death, ruined relationship, war etc.) in the plot?
I know very few, but not much = Yes, art/creativity/philosophy has it roots in a world, where something is, or has gone, terribly wrong.
