Well, belief in God, a sense of God, and so on could be, indeed are, a product of brain cells (plus the surrounding society of other collections of brain cells and what they have constructed - places of worship, holy books and the like). But that would not entitle us to claim that God existed. Passions are a different kind of thing. A claim that they exist does not imply a claim that anything beyond the natural exists.
