Is Aleister Crowley a great artist?

Is occultism an art?
If it is mr Crowley might have been one of the greatest artists.

Woe, woe therefore to him the unchaste who shirks scornful the seeming-trivial, or flees fearful the desperate, adventure. And woe, thrice woe, and four times woe be to him who is allured by the adventure, slacking his Will and demitted from his Way: for as the laggard and the dastard are lost, so is the toy of circumstance dragged down to nethermost Hell.

Sir Knight, be vigilant: watch by your arms and renew your Oath; for that day is of sinister augury and deadly charged with danger which ye fill not to overflowing with gay deeds and bold of masterful, of manful Chastity!

"Law of Thelema"—is "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law". The traditional corresponding phrase is "Love is the law, love under will."
Years go when I was the divorced musician living with the own witch I finally learned what was wrong with this. Read my reply to you on your value thread and it should explain the problem.

Ninety-nine percent rhetoric, one percent content. Not that this is bad, but its merits have to be understood clearly. After all, all he is saying, if you distill it down to its propositional content, is that we should be watchful of temptation and discipline against it. But the care free tossing about of extravagant language is well done, I think.
This has little to do with interesting "occultism". It's just words. to move into the occult in an interesting way is to mvoe beyond language. I think Crowley actually did this, but it's not evidenced here. This is just dark, flowery talk.
