Haydn"s "The Philosopher" Symphony
Re: Haydn"s "The Philosopher" Symphony
I know it well together with the other 103 symphonies of Haydn. The #22 definitely deserves is nickname even though Haydn never called it that. The antiphonal qualities of the first long movement really give one a sense of a deep, disciplined conversation between two thinkers the opposite of what happens on philosophy forums or even in real life. Listening to it is more like a meditation, a communion with oneself. But I'm quite certain that the vast majority wouldn't even know what a Haydn or Mozart symphony sounds like or if they heard it would turn it off immediately.tbieter wrote:http://www.theimaginativeconservative.o ... phony.html

The only thing imaginative about conservatives, is that they imagine that what they believe is permanent.
What ignorant twats.
