For the discussion of all things philosophical, especially articles in the magazine Philosophy Now.

I find most popular discussions about "music" to be subjective and sadly tend to end up just being unjust "fandom" for particular artists, genres, and so on, rather than discussion grounded in sound music theory.Pluto wrote: ↑Wed Oct 29, 2008 7:31 pm What you listening to? At the moment I'm listening to Cold War Kids. I find myself looking for new sounds that understand the present and do something positive with it, in general, in my mind, there's a lot of extremely poor shit out there, at least in the commercial realm.
I'm familiar with the theme being the introduction to a classical radio program but never knew who composed it. Never thought of Couperin, it sounds so modern.vegetariantaxidermy wrote: ↑Thu Apr 02, 2020 10:48 pm Hard to believe this composer was a contemporary of Bach. The wonderful Frenchman, Couperin.

It sounds even more modern in this lovely interpretation (apart from a wrong note and a bit of unnecessary addition of staccato). It makes Gyorgy Cziffra's one sound clunky and heavy with minimal phrasing by comparison. Couperin was a couple of hundred years ahead of his time. It's certainly not the kind of music you associate with baroque era.
