Why do Americans have such bad taste in everything?
Take the TV series 'Who do you think you are?' The original version has lovely theme music at the beginning. The American version has ditched the theme and replaced it with what can only be described as a generic, nothing sort of a noise.

And by the way, the American version is rubbish. Every single one of them has had either a 'Civil war veteran', a pilgrim on the Mayflower, someone who founded a State/knew George Washington personally, a slave who made good blah blah blah; cherry-picked from their hundreds of thousands of direct ancestors, with the egomaniac celebrity gushing 'Oohh, I am just like my 12 times greatgrandfather because I fight for what I believe in/never give up/defend the downtrodden; it's in my genes blah blah blah.....'(Never mind the other ancestors who were excrement collectors and murderers.) Doesn't anyone tell them that your 12 times great grandlineage is so diluted that you share practically no common genetics whatsoever, and there are probably ten million other people who are also direct descendents of that same person?
The only exception seems to be Ginnifer Goodwin, whose great grandmother was a syphillitic morphine addict and convict (perhaps the genealogists didn't like her.) I noticed she didn't say 'Ooh, that's just like me. It must be in my genes....'

They sound so good because they are innovative and real. Nowadays the sound effects would be done on a computer. Back then they used anything they could get their hands on to get the sound they wanted.

Do you mean the Dr. Who original? I think it's a theremin which is interesting because I've been listening to the theremin quite a bit lately.

"original" -as in the 1960's era? - no clue.

if you are refering to the 70's Dr Who - that is not a theremin.

prob a Moog, which I've always liked the sound of - refer to a similar theme song of the same era - Night Gallary.

not a fan if Theremins.

a personal favorite, America's Best (they had so many in their early days before the drifted into pop ;-/ ).

great instrumentation and lyrics IMO.

The ear for Rock was late 60's early 70's. crappiest era for rock was the 80's for sure! only U2/Black Crows/Royal Court of China kept rock alive during the 80's.

then it returned to its better roots/sound in the early 90's with the better alternative rock bands.

then by mid 90's Rap steam rolled over Rock and rock died as a mean genre from 97.......up to today ;-(.

I said original so that's the 60s. But yes, it could be a moog. I like that too.
